Through personal discussions in which goals and objectives based on your particular circumstances are established, we will develop your investment plan with an asset allocation target and create and manage a portfolio based on that plan and allocation targets. We may also discuss your prior investment history, as well as family composition and background.
Account supervision is guided by your stated objectives (e.g., maximum capital appreciation, growth, income, or growth and income), as well as tax considerations. You may also impose reasonable restrictions on investing in certain securities, types of securities, or industry sectors.
The first step in understanding your personal investment situation is to garner an understanding of your risk tolerance. Investing in the financial markets comes with substantial risk, but with time, these risks can be evaluated and managed.
The first goal of our risk management process is to understand your investment horizon. Longer-term investments can take on greater risk because you have a longer time to recover should the market turn against you, whereas shorter-term investments should take on less risk.
The second goal is to understand how comfortable are you with taking on risk, in general. If the thought of being down 20% in a given year petrifies you, we will craft a portfolio that takes on much less risk than we would otherwise.
Aligning your risk tolerance with your investments is critical to a sound investment strategy. To get started, try out this free risk assessment. It will ask you a few simple questions to help you better understand where you stand. It only takes a few minutes, and the results may surprise you.
We provide investment management services on either a discretionary basis, non-discretionary basis, or held away basis.
Discretionary Investment Management means that we will not require advance notice or your consent each time we makes changes to your portfolio.
Non-Discretionary Investment Management requires us to obtain your direct authorization prior to making any changes to your portfolio.
Held Away Investment Management allows us to provide recommendations on changes to your portfolio, but it is up to you to implement these changes. This situation is ideal for employer and government sponsored retirement plans (401k, 403b, 457), and Individual Retirement Accounts (e.g, Traditional and Roth).
Our standard advisory fee is based on the market value of the assets under management and may also include held away accounts that you choose to have our firm advise on and regularly monitor. The standard advisory fee is calculated as follows:
|Account Value||Annual Advisory Fee|
|$50,000 – $1,000,000||0.35%|
|$1,000,001 – $5,000,000||0.30%|
|$5,000,001 – $10,000,000||0.25%|
|$10,000,000 and Above||0.20%|
The annual fees are pro-rated and paid in arrears on a quarterly basis. The advisory fee is a tiered fee and is calculated by assessing the percentage rates using the predefined levels of assets as shown in the above chart and applying the fee to the account value as of the last day of the previous quarter.
The minimum account size is $50,000, which comes out to $175/year, or $43.75 per quarter.
